How to get involved

Serving our community and those in need has never been easier. Reach out to [email protected] to join us in action.

The Missions and Service Team of Holy Covenant helps our membership live out their faith through serving someone else. We believe that being a follower of Christ is more than just showing up to worship on a Sunday. It is more than just studying the bible and growing in faith. It is also acting out! We desire to provide a lot of opportunities to be the loving presence of Christ in our community and world. This team celebrates new opportunities for service, as well as continuing ongoing missional support for ministries that reach people in need.

Missions and Service happens at three levels: Local, Regional and International. Local ministries include tutoring as well as offering ongoing support to local non-profit organizations such as participating in regular collections of good for people in need. Regional Ministries include hurricane relief, supporting refugees in the greater Houston area, and ministries that extend beyond the Texas border. International Ministries include all mission work beyond the United States border as we seek to serve all people, following the example of Jesus Christ.

Due to the ongoing spread of Covid-19, the annual Katy Community Thanksgiving Feast will not be held in person for the second year running. The participating local Katy churches will once again partner with Katy Christian Ministries to provide all the side dishes needed for families to prepare their own Thanksgiving Feast at home. KCM will distribute a box of feast fixin’s along with a donated turkey to each family that they serve during the month of November. Last year, over 1100 families received everything needed to prepare their own holiday meal. With an average of 2 children per household, that means that at least 2200 children were able to enjoy a family feast that they might otherwise have gone without. For nine years prior to the pandemic, multiple Katy churches of varying denominations have endeavored to unite the people of Katy in a spirit of Thanksgiving to God, while serving their neighbors in need with prayer, home cooked food, home goods, and connections to local non-profit services. We pray that next year we will see the return of the in-person feast.

Last year, HCKaty was asked to supply instant mashed potatoes and did an amazing job of bringing in 1241 boxes/packets. Other churches had the goal of providing boxed stuffing, canned green beans, canned corn, turkey gravy, cranberry sauce, mac and cheese, beans, rice, and a pumpkin dessert.

HCKaty peeps, let’s do this again and who knows, maybe we’ll even surpass last year’s total! Potatoes will be collected during the month of October.
